The Scenic Daguerreotype in America 1840–1860

This event showcases the evolution of daguerreotypes, the first widely practiced photographic process, with a special focus on scenic outdoor daguerreotypes developed between 1840 and 1860. Attendees will have the opportunity to view 83 of these rare, jewel-like photographs, including two of the earliest American landscape photographs and a never-before-seen street scene in Cincinnati, providing a unique glimpse into mid-nineteenth-century American life and the beginnings of American landscape photography.
