Jebel Akhdar
Jebel Akhdar, meaning “Green Mountain,” is a highland area within Oman's Al Hajar Mountains in Ad Dakhiliyah Governorate. The mountain rises to about 2,980 meters, with the Saiq Plateau located around 2,000 meters above sea level. Its cooler mountain climate supports terraced orchards, villages, and vegetation that differs from the dry lowlands below.
Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area
Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area lies about 17 miles west of the Las Vegas Strip, where the Mojave Desert rises into sandstone cliffs, rugged mountains, and broad desert valleys. Nevada’s first National Conservation Area, it covers nearly 198,000 acres and provides a sharp contrast to the developed landscape of Las Vegas.
