Palm Desert is a city in California’s Coachella Valley, set between the San Jacinto and Santa Rosa Mountains and the Little San Bernardino Mountains. Its landscape is characterized by desert plains, palm trees, rugged mountain slopes, and irrigated areas created around residential neighborhoods and golf courses. El Paseo forms the city’s best-known commercial district, with shops, galleries, restaurants, and public art along a landscaped boulevard.

Thoddoo is a local island in the North Ari Atoll of the Maldives, distinguished by its unusually strong agricultural tradition. While coral reefs, beaches, and lagoons surround the island, much of its interior is covered by productive farmland, with watermelon, papaya, eggplant, chili, drumstick, breadfruit, and other crops cultivated for local consumption and markets. Felidhoo is the administrative capital, while Thinadhoo, Keyodhoo, and Fulidhoo are among the better-known inhabited islands. The atoll has a quieter character than the more developed areas closer to the capital, with guesthouses, fishing communities, and resorts spread across separate islands.
