Lagoa do Fogo is a volcanic crater lake on São Miguel Island in Portugal’s Azores archipelago. Set within a protected landscape in the island’s central highlands, the lake occupies a large caldera surrounded by steep slopes covered with native vegetation. Its remote setting and undeveloped shoreline distinguish it from the more settled areas of São Miguel.

Pinnacle Mountain State Park is a protected recreation area west of Little Rock, Arkansas, centered on the distinctive summit of Pinnacle Mountain. The park covers more than 2,300 acres along the Arkansas River and combines forested slopes, rocky ridges, wetlands, and open river landscapes. Pinnacle Mountain rises above the surrounding Ouachita Mountain foothills and is one of the most recognizable natural landmarks near the state capital.

Batu Caves is a limestone hill and Hindu religious complex in Gombak, Selangor, just north of Kuala Lumpur. The site consists of several caves and caverns formed within a limestone outcrop, with the main Temple Cave reached by a staircase of 272 steps.

From grand castles to resplendent cathedrals, Tallinn’s Old Town neighborhood, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is the perfect place to begin exploring. Enter through Viru Väravad, or Viru Gate, the former fortress whose remaining two towers beckon you into the heart of the city.
