Its legacy as the former imperial capital of Vietnam is just one of many reasons to visit Hue. For more than a century, the emperors of the Nguyen dynasty (1802-1945) ruled from the Forbidden Purple City, the innermost enclosure of the citadel. Today, this complex is designated as a UNESCO World Heritage site and draws millions of visitors each year.

Alifu Dhaalu Atoll, also known as South Ari Atoll, lies southwest of Malé in the central Maldives and includes a mixture of inhabited islands, uninhabited islets, sandbanks, and resort islands. The atoll is surrounded by coral reefs and clear lagoon waters, while many of its inhabited islands retain compact communities shaped by fishing and maritime traditions. Mahibadhoo serves as the administrative capital, with Dhangethi, Dhigurah, Omadhoo, and Mandhoo among the better-known local islands.

Morondava is a coastal town in western Madagascar and the capital of the Menabe region. Located along the Mozambique Channel, it serves as a base for exploring the dry landscapes and wildlife of western Madagascar. The town is closely associated with the Avenue of the Baobabs, one of the country’s best-known natural landmarks, and with the dry forests around Kirindy. Morondava’s setting is shaped by sandy coastal areas, river systems, dry woodland, and open plains.

Glen Haven is a small historic lakeside settlement on the western side of Michigan’s Leelanau Peninsula, within Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore. It sits along Lake Michigan beside a sheltered natural harbor, with forested hills and steep dunes rising behind the shoreline. Unlike nearby towns, Glen Haven is primarily a preserved historic site rather than a conventional residential community.

Elbow Beach is a long, gently curving stretch of pale pink sand on Bermuda’s South Shore in Paget Parish, close to Hamilton. The beach takes its name from its distinctive bend, which resembles an elbow when viewed from the water. Protective coral reefs offshore help create relatively calm conditions, making the beach suitable for swimming and body surfing.
