Amelia Island is a barrier island on Florida’s northeast coast, located near the Georgia state line and about 30 minutes north of Jacksonville. The island stretches roughly 13 miles and combines Atlantic beaches, salt marshes, maritime forests, and the historic port community of Fernandina Beach. The historic Bayfront offers a mixture of shops, galleries, canneries and restaurants that serve fresh clam chowder, shrimp, oysters, crab and salmon.
Chetumal is the capital of the Mexican state of Quintana Roo, located near the border with Belize on the western side of Chetumal Bay. Unlike the large resort centers farther north on the Caribbean coast, the city functions primarily as a government, commercial, and cultural center.
