Cut length wise by the Turkish/Greek border, the island of Cyprus leads two lives. The Turkish side is traditional and Islamic, while the Greek side is a very modern vacation destination.

Ponta do Sol is a small coastal town on the northern shore of Santo Antão, one of Cabo Verde’s most mountainous islands. The settlement sits between steep valleys and the Atlantic Ocean, with colorful buildings clustered around narrow streets and a waterfront used by local fishermen. Its position makes it an important starting point for exploring Santo Antão’s rugged northern coast and inland valleys.

Dampier Peninsula is situated along the north east coast of western Australia within the famous Kimberley. Around half of the Peninsula is covered by Aboriginal land, and so you should check with the Tourist Information Centre in Broome about the areas where you may not be permitted. Chamarel is a mountain village in southwestern Mauritius, surrounded by forested slopes, volcanic terrain, and agricultural land. Its elevated position gives the area a cooler, wetter setting than much of the coast, while its location near Black River Gorges National Park places it within one of the island’s main protected landscapes.

Urfa proudly exhibits the legacy of all civilizations that have prospered in this region. In the second millenium B.C., it was a city of a Hurrite state. Tradition relates that Abraham was born in a cave near the area where the Mevlid Mosque now stands.
