Durban is a big subtropical city in the north-eastern province of KwaZulu/Natal. It has been a major port since the 1850s and is home to the largest concentration of Indian-descended people in the country - Mohandas Gandhi arrived here as an indentured labourer in 1893. Today the city is better known as a holiday-makers' fun parlour with a happening nightlife.

The Waterton-Glacier Peace Park protects an important biological crossroads where the Rocky Mountains reach their narrowest width. Waterton's bedrock is much older than that of the mountains to the north found in Jasper and Banff.

The Cabot Trail loops around northern Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia, tracing cliffs, highlands, and forests for roughly 298 km. Named for the explorer John Cabot, the region’s deeper story belongs to the Mi’kmaq people, whose presence predates European settlement.
