Lapu-Lapu City occupies much of Mactan Island in Cebu Province, Philippines, and is connected to Cebu City and the mainland by bridges across the Mactan Channel. The city combines a busy urban environment with beaches, resorts, coastal communities, and a major international airport. Mactan Island is also known for its coral-rich waters and long association with fishing and maritime trade.
Unawatuna lies along Sri Lanka’s southern coast, shaped by maritime trade, colonial encounters, and a long relationship with the sea. Once a small fishing village, it developed near historic Galle and reflects layers of Portuguese, Dutch, and British influence that passed through the region.
One of San Cristobal Island's most popular visitor sites is Cerro Brujo, with its expansive white sand beach and a lagoon that locals once used as a salt mine but now offers excellent snorkeling opportunities. Another must-see is Kicker Rock, a fascinating rock formation that looks like a boot from one angle (hence its English name) and like a sleeping lion from another (thus its Spanish name, Roca León Dormido).
In the newer area you will find excellent hotels, chic shops, and good restaurants. Near the old downtown commercial center, behind the Catedral Metropolitana, and a block off Central Park, the Central Market where everything made or produced in the country is sold.
