The Lemaire Channel is a spectacular sight with enormous sheer cliffs falling straight into the sea. It's a narrow channel flanked by the Antarctic Peninsula on one side and Booth Island on the other. So photogenic is the channel that it's nicknamed 'Kodak Gap', and it's only once you're well within it that a way through is visible.
Long regarded as one of the freest-thinking college towns in the U.S., Ann Arbor is home to the University of Michigan, the Gerald R. Ford Presidential Library and Domino's Pizza. While you're in Ann Arbor, be certain to see the city's many fascinating historic buildings; the Kelsey Museum of Ancient and Medieval Archaeology; and Kerrytown (a diversity of specialty shops and eateries in restored 19th-century buildings close to the Farmers Market).
Bamburgh is a coastal village on the Northumberland coast of northeast England, overlooking the North Sea from a low rocky rise. Its most recognizable landmark is Bamburgh Castle, which dominates the village and stands above a wide stretch of sandy beach. The settlement is surrounded by open coastal scenery, dunes, and views toward the Farne Islands.
Negombo, located just north of Colombo and minutes from Sri Lanka’s main international airport, offers a coastal town experience steeped in layered history and local life. Once a vital trading post for cinnamon during the colonial era, Negombo has seen Portuguese, Dutch, and British influence with each leaving a mark on its architecture and culture. The Dutch-era canal system, still used by fishermen and local vendors today, runs through parts of the town and can be explored by boat or bicycle.
Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore occupies a long stretch of northwestern Michigan’s Lower Peninsula along Lake Michigan, protecting towering dunes, sandy beaches, forests, inland lakes, and steep coastal bluffs. The protected area extends across the Leelanau and Benzie county region and includes the Manitou Islands offshore. Its most recognizable feature is the Sleeping Bear Dune, which rises high above Lake Michigan and the surrounding landscape.
