Located in the Indian state of Punjab, Amritsar is perhaps best known as the home of the Golden Temple, or Harmandir Sahib. It is one of the Sikhism religion's most significant and most-visited gurudwaras (place of worship). Tourists may also be interested in one of several museums, Urban Haat Food Street, Gobindgarh Fort and the Jallianwala Bagh memorial garden.

Oruro, city in western Bolivia, capital of Oruro Department, located on a plateau about 3700 m (about 12,140 ft) above sea level. Oruro is a major railroad junction and an important commercial and processing center in a mineral, especially tin, mining area. Industries in the city include tin smelting and shoe and clothing manufacture. The Technical University of Oruro (1892) is here. Oruro was settled about 1595 by Spaniards interested in its silver deposits.

Once a crucial checkpoint on the historic Tōkaidō road between Edo and Kyoto, Hakone is still shaped by centuries of history. The reconstructed Hakone Sekisho (Hakone Checkpoint) offers a glimpse into the Edo Period, when travelers were inspected by samurai guards before continuing on their journey.

Lake Powell, stretching across the Utah-Arizona border, is one of the largest manmade reservoirs in the United States. Formed by the flooding of Glen Canyon after the completion of the Glen Canyon Dam in 1963, it covers over 180 miles in length and contains nearly 2,000 miles of shoreline, more than the entire West Coast of the U.S. Despite its modern origins, the area has long been home to the Ancestral Puebloans and later Navajo communities.
