Luganville is Vanuatu’s second-largest town and the main urban center of Espiritu Santo, the country’s largest island. It stretches along the south coast of the Segond Channel, with roads, shops, markets, small businesses, and waterfront communities forming the center of daily life. The town developed around its harbor and remains closely connected with fishing, agriculture, and tourism.
The Darvaza Gas Crater, famously nicknamed the “Door to Hell,” is one of Turkmenistan’s most extraordinary landmarks. Located deep in the Karakum Desert, this fiery pit has been burning continuously since the early 1970s, when Soviet engineers reportedly set fire to a collapsed natural gas field to prevent the spread of methane.
This National Park is located 35km south of Fort Portal and is home to monkeys, chimpanzees, baboons, bushbuck, elephants, birds and many varieties of butterflies. A four wheel drive is recommended.
