Ushguli is a group of high mountain villages in Upper Svaneti, northwestern Georgia, set in the Enguri valley beneath the Greater Caucasus. The settlement is widely known for its traditional stone houses and defensive towers, with Mount Shkhara rising above the surrounding landscape.

Antarctica’s Deception Island offers a dramatic landscape shaped by volcanic forces in one of the most remote corners of the world. Located in the South Shetland Islands, it is the caldera of an active volcano, its flooded interior forming a natural harbor known as Port Foster. This rare combination of volcanic activity and polar environment makes Deception Island a place where ice and fire meet.

Adak Island lies in the central Aleutian Islands of southwest Alaska, where steep volcanic mountains meet the North Pacific. Tikehau is a small coral atoll in the Tuamotu Archipelago of French Polynesia, northeast of Tahiti. Its oval lagoon is enclosed by a narrow chain of coral islets known as motu, with only a few channels connecting the lagoon to the open Pacific. Most of the land is low and covered with coconut palms, coastal vegetation, and white- and pink-tinged sand.
