Maligne Lake is a long, glacially fed lake in Jasper National Park in Alberta’s Canadian Rockies. Surrounded by steep mountain peaks, forests, and alpine terrain, it is one of the largest lakes in the park and an important part of the Maligne Valley. The lake extends deep into the mountains, with several smaller islands and sheltered bays along its shoreline.

Tomar sits on the Nabão River in central Portugal as a place where medieval history and everyday life meet in welcoming streets and grand monuments. Just outside the convent walls lies the Pegões Aqueduct, an impressive feat of engineering more than 6 kilometers long that once carried water from distant springs to the hilltop site. Murghab is a remote mountain town in eastern Tajikistan, located in the high-altitude Pamirs of the Gorno-Badakhshan Autonomous Region. It sits within a broad, dry landscape of gravel plains, mountain ranges, and sparse alpine vegetation, where trees are largely absent. Murghab is an important stopping point on the Pamir Highway, connecting eastern and western parts of the Pamirs and continuing toward Kyrgyzstan.
