Situated on the north coast of the Snæfellsnes peninsula between a mountain range and the sea is the small town of Grundarfjordur, Iceland. Though certainly now the most well-known town on the peninsula, its nearby mountain Kirkjufell ("church mountain" in Icelandic) is perhaps Iceland's most famous.

Salt Spring Island is the largest of British Columbia’s Southern Gulf Islands, situated between Vancouver Island and the mainland in the Salish Sea. The island is known for its forested hills, sheltered bays, small farms, and network of rural roads. Ganges serves as the main community and a centre for shops, galleries, cafés, and waterfront activity, while Fulford Harbour and Vesuvius provide additional ferry connections.

Portovenere, in the region of Cinque Terre, is a characteristic medieval village situated at the far west of the gulf. With its colored, narrow high houses, the Genoese Castle, the St. Pietro Church on the steep cliff, it unites history with charm.

Northwest of Grand Rapids, it has a natural safe harbor off Lake Michigan

The only coral island in the archipelago, Anegada is one of the British Virgin Islands and best known for its secluded beaches, extensive salt ponds, and nearly flat elevation which gave rise to the name Tierra Anegada, Spanish for "flooded land."
