Cape Town, located at the southern tip of South Africa, is one of the world’s most striking coastal cities. Towering over it is Table Mountain, a flat-topped landmark that can be reached by cable car or on foot, offering sweeping views of the city, ocean, and beyond.

Anse Mitan is a coastal neighborhood and beach on the Pointe du Bout peninsula in Les Trois-Îlets, on the Caribbean side of Martinique. The beach curves gently along Fort-de-France Bay, with pale sand, calm coastal waters, and views across the bay toward Fort-de-France and the Pitons du Carbet. Unlike more secluded beaches on the island, Anse Mitan is closely integrated with the surrounding resort area, with hotels, restaurants, shops, and water-sports facilities along the shoreline.

Karpathos is marked by the peculiar Karpathian houses, built of carved stone, full of embroidery and characteristic interior decorations. From Pigadia you may visit Kyra Panagia, a picturesque bay with a marvelous beach and a monastery of the same name. A little further, on the northern promontory of Karpathos, lies the Diafani village; on the nearby little island of Saria we see Palatia, with ruins of the ancient city of Nisyros.

Agios Nikolaos is a seaside town in eastern Crete, Greece, set around Mirabello Bay and known for its unusual waterfront setting around Lake Voulismeni. The small lagoon lies at the center of the town, surrounded by cafés, tavernas, shops, and narrow streets that rise toward the surrounding hills. The harbor and marina extend the town toward the sea, while beaches and coves are found along the nearby coast.

This quaint town on the Rhine is the gateway to the Black Forest and lies halfway between Freiburg and Colmar. As you walk the cobblestone streets, stop to sample local schnapps made from fermented pears or cherries and the distinctive smoky ham of this region. St. Stephan's Cathedral perches on a hillside and is the exquisite centerpiece of the town.
