Naha is the cultural and administrative heart of Okinawa Island, shaped by its past as the capital of the Ryukyu Kingdom.

Amboise has 12,000 inhabitants and is in the heart of Touraine, in the land of chateaux. It is a town both traditional and modern, lively and quiet. In Amboise, there is a royal castle set above the Loire Valley and is a strong point extensively embellished during the 15th and 16th centuries.

An advantage from which the powerful merchants and bankers, the Fugger family and the seafaring Welsers, likewise profited. They elevated Augsburg to rank among the world's most powerful cities. Kings and emperors were frequent guests here.

West of Hiawatha National Forest, Marquette sits on the shore of Lake Superior and is the biggest city on Michigan's Upper Peninsula.
