Set in a wide valley beneath towering Himalayan peaks, Dingboche offers a striking pause along the route toward Mount Everest. Unlike the narrower trails below, Dingboche opens into a broad landscape framed by snow-covered giants such as Ama Dablam and Lhotse. The village sits high above the tree line, where the air feels thin and clear, and the surrounding terrain shifts from forested slopes to open alpine ground.

Theodore Roosevelt National Park, tucked into the rugged badlands of western North Dakota is where a young Theodore Roosevelt came to recover after the loss of his wife and mother in the same day. He bought a ranch, rode the open plains, and found the resolve that would later define his presidency. Today, the park named in his honor preserves that same wild spirit. Visitors can still see Roosevelt’s original Maltese Cross Cabin near the park's entrance and walk trails he once rode on horseback.

Trabzon was founded in the 7th century B.C. by Milletain colonists. On entering the city, on a green hill descending to the sea, is a well-preserved 13th century Byzantine church, now the Avasofya Museum. The walls of this church are decorated with frescoes, some of the finest examples of Byzantine craftmanship. The higher part of the city, the old quarter, inside the still extant fortifications with its timber houses, should be visited.
