Kingston is a waterfront city in eastern Ontario where Lake Ontario, the St. Lawrence River, and the Rideau Canal meet. Its location at the entrance to the Great Lakes and the Thousand Islands has shaped its role in transportation, trade, defence, and settlement. The city is known for its limestone buildings, historic downtown, waterfront parks, and connection to Queen's University and the Royal Military College of Canada.

Horta sits on the southeastern coast of Faial Island in the Azores, long defined by its position in the mid-Atlantic. For centuries it served as a critical stop for whaling ships, transatlantic sailors, and later yachts crossing between Europe and the Americas.

A hundred and forty seven miles from Frankfurt, Bayreuth is an important town the the history of classical music. There's a museum in this town dedicated to the composer who made Bayreuth famous, Richard Wagner. Every year, from the end of July and throughout August, the Bayreuth Festival pays homage to Wagner by presenting various operas he created.

The Lemaire Channel is a spectacular sight with enormous sheer cliffs falling straight into the sea. It's a narrow channel flanked by the Antarctic Peninsula on one side and Booth Island on the other. So photogenic is the channel that it's nicknamed 'Kodak Gap', and it's only once you're well within it that a way through is visible.

Itea is famous for its honey and olives. That said, it is the perfect little town to stay in as a starting point for day trips to such places as Delphi, one of the most popular and interesting archaeological sites in the world, and Amphissa, the capital of prefecture. Itea is also host to many festivals in the winter and summer months.
