North Seymour
North Seymour Island, located just north of Baltra in Ecuador’s Galápagos archipelago, is a compact but biologically rich destination known for its wildlife encounters. A fishing port and seaside resort in a picturesque location. The old town is dominated by a castle (7th century). The cathedral (1279) is notable for its admirable sculptures and paintings as well as its Arab-Norman bell tower. The mausoleum of Lucius Munatius Plancus, an impressive Roman monument, is cylindrical in shape and 13 meters high. The sanctuary of Montagna Spaccata is at Punta della Trinità, where you can see a chasm which is traditionally said to have opened up on the death of Jesus.
Theodore Roosevelt National Park
Theodore Roosevelt National Park, tucked into the rugged badlands of western North Dakota is where a young Theodore Roosevelt came to recover after the loss of his wife and mother in the same day. He bought a ranch, rode the open plains, and found the resolve that would later define his presidency. Today, the park named in his honor preserves that same wild spirit. Visitors can still see Roosevelt’s original Maltese Cross Cabin near the park's entrance and walk trails he once rode on horseback.
