This small yet charming city in Alaska's panhandle is a throwback to the gold rush era. Skagway is a well-preserved part of Klondike Gold Rush National Historical Park.

Roussillon is a hilltop village in the Luberon of southeastern France, surrounded by some of the region’s richest ochre deposits. Its houses, walls, and narrow streets are colored by the same natural pigments found in the surrounding earth, ranging from pale yellow to deep red. The village stands within the Luberon Regional Natural Park, where wooded hills and agricultural land meet the ochre landscape.

Karpathos is marked by the peculiar Karpathian houses, built of carved stone, full of embroidery and characteristic interior decorations. From Pigadia you may visit Kyra Panagia, a picturesque bay with a marvelous beach and a monastery of the same name. A little further, on the northern promontory of Karpathos, lies the Diafani village; on the nearby little island of Saria we see Palatia, with ruins of the ancient city of Nisyros.

Ikara-Flinders Ranges National Park lies in South Australia’s Flinders Ranges, covering about 95,000 hectares of rugged mountains, dry valleys, rocky gorges, and semi-arid plains. Its most recognizable feature is Ikara, also known as Wilpena Pound, a vast natural amphitheatre enclosed by quartzite ranges. The park also contains the Heysen Range and the Brachina and Bunyeroo gorges, creating a landscape shaped by erosion and exposed geological layers.

Blois is a historic city on the Loire River in central France, set among the vineyards, forests, and château country of the Loire Valley. Its old centre rises from the river toward the Château Royal de Blois, creating a landscape of steep streets, stairways, and terraces. Half-timbered houses stand alongside Renaissance townhouses, stone churches, and later buildings, while the river provides open views across the city.
