Folégandros is a small Cycladic island in the Aegean Sea, known for its steep cliffs, dry hills, whitewashed villages, and traditional stone architecture. Its main settlement, Chora, sits more than 200 metres above sea level and extends around the medieval Kastro, a fortified district built near the edge of the cliffs.
Bastimentos Island is one of the largest islands in Panama’s Bocas del Toro archipelago, off the Caribbean coast in the country’s northwest. Much of the island remains covered by tropical forest, wetlands, mangroves, and coastal vegetation, with small communities located around sheltered bays. Bastimentos is closely associated with the Bastimentos Island National Marine Park, which protects both terrestrial and marine ecosystems around the island.
Kilauea is the world's largest active volcanic mass, located southeastern Hawaii Island. The central feature of Hawaii Volcanoes National Park is an elongated dome built of lava eruptions from a central crater and from lines of craters extending along east and southwest riffs or fissures.
Mljet National Park sits on the western side of Mljet Island in Croatia’s Adriatic Sea, a place where saltwater lakes meet ancient forest pathways. The park stretches across nearly one-third of the island, with Veliko Jezero (Great Lake) and Malo Jezero (Small Lake) as their most striking features. These two saltwater lakes are connected by a narrow channel to the open sea, creating calm blue waters that draw visitors for swims, casual kayak outings, or peaceful cycles around the shaded paths.
Jellyfish Lake is a shadowed oasis hidden among the mushroom-like Rock Islands of Palau. This forest‑fringed saltwater lake invites visitors to float with millions of gentle, stingless jellyfish that glow like drifting amber clouds under emerald light. The lake formed about 12,000 years ago, when rising seas flooded an ancient reef basin that was gradually cut off from the ocean. Over centuries, its jellyfish evolved in isolation, shedding their stings and multiplying without predators in sight.
