Barca d'Alva
Barca d'Alva sits quietly along the Douro River, right at Portugal’s eastern border with Spain. Once the final stop on the historic Douro railway line, this riverside village remains relatively untouched by mass tourism. The surrounding landscape filled with terraced vineyards, olive groves, and almond trees form part of the UNESCO-listed Alto Douro Wine Region.
Devonport Tasmania
If you are travelling to Tasmania on the Spirit of Tasmania, then Devonport will be your first port of call. On arriving at Tasmania the first thing you will see, will probably be the Mersey Bluff and the Bluff Lighthouse. Along with passenger ferries, the port is still active with the exportation of products from north Tasmania.
Bar Harbor
Bar Harbor should be any traveler's Maine priority! Drink in a view of the Atlantic Ocean from the town pier, and be sure to get some lobster at one of the excellent local restaurants. Bar Harbor, a Mount Desert Island town, is also the portal to the rugged, recreational paradise Acadia National Park, where birding, whale-watching and kayaking is the order of the day. The park's Cadillac Mountain is the highest point on America's East Coast.
