Comoros, independent state comprising a group of islands located at the northern entrance of the Mozambique Channel, between the African mainland and the island of Madagascar. Officially called the Federal Islamic Republic of the Comoros, the archipelago includes four major islands.

Lalibela is the name of the township which King Lalibela, later canonized, ruled in the 12th century. At his command, eleven monolithic churches were hewn out of living rock. The churches are unique because they are not carved into rock but were freed from it entirely

Nome is a coastal city on the southern Seward Peninsula in western Alaska, facing Norton Sound and the Bering Sea. Its remote location places it far from Alaska's major road network, with access primarily by air and seasonal sea travel. The surrounding landscape consists of tundra, low mountains, wetlands, beaches, and broad coastal plains.
