Hammerfest, located above the Arctic Circle in northern Norway, is one of the northernmost towns in the world with a population of over 10,000. It’s a place where the midnight sun shines from mid-May to late July, and the polar night sets in from late November to mid-January. Historically a hub for Arctic hunting and fishing, Hammerfest was also the first town in Northern Europe to install electric streetlights in 1891.

The Elbe is one of the Central Europe's greatest rivers, rising in the northern Czech Republic, traversing through Bohemia and Germany, and flowing into the North Sea not far from Hamburg. The river and its route have been largely untouched, so wildlife visibly abounds along its wetlands and wooded regions. Other scenery includes terraced vineyards and charming wine villages.

On the North Platte River in north central Wyoming, Casper has been the center for much of the oil industry in the State.

Sandwich, Massachusetts, occupies the Upper Cape near the eastern end of the Cape Cod Canal and is recognized as the oldest town on Cape Cod. Its historic center combines colonial-era homes, a village common, small shops, galleries, and landmarks around Shawme Pond. The town extends from inland woodlands and freshwater ponds to salt marshes and Cape Cod Bay, giving it a varied coastal landscape.
