The event, We Are The Lodge, is a vibrant showcase of ribbon skirts and shirts, handcrafted by young individuals aged 17-20 during a series of workshops. Under the guidance of Indigenous mentor Pearl White Quills, participants not only learned fundamental sewing skills but also delved into the cultural significance of these garments as symbols of the body, the earth, and the divine. Pearl White Quills, a Niitstapiaki (Blackfoot Woman) artist, is a multifaceted talent, being a traditional hand drum singer, seamstress, professional beadwork artist, and mentor. Through her flourishing family business, Bright Swan Creations, she teaches community and crafts authentic handmade Indigenous crafts, making her an integral part of this exhibition.
