Friday Harbor is the principal community and county seat of San Juan County, located on San Juan Island in northwestern Washington. The town overlooks a sheltered harbor and serves as a central gateway to the surrounding San Juan Islands. Its waterfront is lined with marinas, small businesses, restaurants, galleries, and ferry facilities, while residential streets and wooded areas extend beyond the compact downtown.

While an earthquake in 1972 left few buildings intact in downtown Managua, new areas are building up. Managua has excellent restaurants, nice hotels, and is a good base for day tours into the countryside.

New River Gorge National Park & Preserve in West Virginia has captured the attention of travelers with its rugged landscape and storied past. Established as a national park in 2020, this area was long known for its coal mining heritage and railroad history. Today, visitors can explore remnants of old mining towns and take in views from historic train trestles, all while experiencing some of the most dramatic river and canyon scenery in the eastern United States.

Capitol Reef National Park occupies a long, rugged section of southern Utah where sandstone cliffs, domes, canyons, and high desert plateaus form a landscape centered on the Waterpocket Fold. This immense wrinkle in the earth’s crust creates a dramatic change in elevation and exposes layers of rock in shades of red, orange, white, and gray.
