Castellammare del Golfo
Castellammare del Golfo is a coastal town in western Sicily, set around a broad bay in the province of Trapani. Its historic center rises above a working marina, while the Arab-Norman castle stands directly beside the sea and gives the town its distinctive profile. The waterfront is lined with fishing boats, small streets, and buildings that climb toward the slopes of Monte Inici.
Ascension
Ascension island, British dependency of St. Helena, in the South Atlantic Ocean, about midway between Africa and South America and 700 miles northwest of St. Helena. The small, volcanic island was sighted by the Portuguese in 1501, but it was uninhabited until the exile of Napoleon to St. Helena in 1815.
Cankuzo
Cankuzo, tucked in Burundi’s eastern corner near the Tanzanian border, offers travelers a lesser-known but deeply rewarding experience. Namche
Namche Bazaar, perched at 3,440 meters in the Khumbu region of Nepal, is often called the gateway to Everest, but it’s far more than a rest stop on the way to Base Camp. Once a trading post between Tibetan and Nepali merchants, Namche has developed into a small mountain town where yak caravans and Wi-Fi cafes exist side by side. Despite its remote location, it has a Saturday market that continues to bring traders and trekkers together, just as it did centuries ago.
Mount Nebo
Mount Nebo rises in western Jordan, overlooking the Jordan River Valley, the Dead Sea, and, on clear days, Jerusalem and Jericho.
