Trier, Germany’s oldest city, is a living museum nestled in the Moselle Valley, where Roman ruins rise beside medieval churches and bustling market squares. Founded by the Romans in 16 BCE, Trier was once known as “Roma Secunda,” the second Rome, and still boasts the largest collection of Roman architecture north of the Alps. The Trier Cathedral (Dom St. Peter), which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is the oldest church in Germany and houses a relic said to be the Holy Robe of Christ.

Noosa Heads, located on Queensland’s Sunshine Coast, is a coastal town renowned for its pristine beaches, lush hinterland, and relaxed yet sophisticated atmosphere. The town sits at the mouth of the Noosa River, where calm waterways meet the Pacific Ocean, creating ideal conditions for swimming, kayaking, and paddleboarding.

Montserrat Mountain rises sharply from the plains of Catalonia, its jagged rock shapes visible from far away. The mountain is known for its unusual rounded peaks and narrow ridges, formed into striking forms that look almost carved by hand. Trails and cable cars lead visitors upward from nearby villages such as Monistrol de Montserrat, where the climb quickly reveals wide views across the region, stretching toward Barcelona on clear days.

Wilmington was the only open seaport in the Confederacy from 1863 until the last months of the war - nearly two years. Visit Fort Fisher which kept the port open to blockade runners. Afterwards, tour another historic treasure, the Bellamy Mansion Museum of History and Design Arts. In 1865, it was commandeered as headquarters for the Union forces.

Important both historically and economically, the beachside city of La Serena is one of Chile's oldest post-Columbian cities. The region's silver, copper and agriculture were so important that the city had its own mint. Today, La Serena maintains a colonial air, although it is threatening Viña del Mar's supremacy as premier beach resort. Apart from a string of beautiful beaches, attractions include a handful of museums and a number of nearby quaint villages and vineyards.
