Seward is a coastal city at the head of Resurrection Bay on Alaska’s Kenai Peninsula. Mountains rise around the community, while its harbor opens toward the Gulf of Alaska. In 1283, King Edward I set out to build a series of magnificent castles, of which Conwy was one of the largest. In addition, the town was fortified with walls which still exist today, making this one of the finest surviving fortified medieval towns in the world.

Kalamata is a coastal city in the southwestern Peloponnese, set at the head of the Messinian Gulf beneath the slopes of Mount Taygetos. Its long waterfront includes sandy beaches, cafés, restaurants, and walking areas, while the city center contains pedestrian streets, neoclassical buildings, churches, and lively squares. Kalamata serves as the administrative and commercial center of Messinia and provides a useful base for exploring the wider region.
