Baja California Sur is state located in Northwestern Mexico, on the Baja California peninsula. The capital is La Paz. The area is lightly populated. Tourism is the economic mainstay of this region, centered around the beach resort area, Los Cabos. Sport fishing is a major attraction, as well as having some of the best beaches Baja has to offer.

The mountain is known for its unusual rounded peaks and narrow ridges, formed into striking forms that look almost carved by hand. Trails and cable cars lead visitors upward from nearby villages such as Monistrol de Montserrat, where the climb quickly reveals wide views across the region, stretching toward Barcelona on clear days.

Nayarit's sub-tropical climate is often compared to Hawaii’s. Temperatures reach ninety degrees during the summer, but at night the onshore breeze from the ocean brings cool air that makes for pleasant sleeping conditions.
