San Pedro Sula
While San Pedro Sula is the oldest city in Honduras, it doesn't show its age. Flat, with a tropical climate,the city prospers both as a commercial center and as a getaway to the Copan ruins and the Bay Islands. There is also a popular artisan market where you can buy silkscreen prints, primitive paintings, pottery, hammocks and wood sculptures.
Altiplano
The Bolivian Altiplano is a vast high plateau in the Andes, stretching across much of western Bolivia between the country’s major mountain ranges. Its high elevation creates a cool, dry environment with broad open plains, rugged peaks, volcanoes, and sparse grasslands. La Paz and El Alto occupy the northern part of the plateau, while Oruro, Uyuni, and Potosí are among its other important settlements.
Golfito
Golfito is a small port town on Costa Rica's southern Pacific coast, set along a narrow bay on the Golfo Dulce in Puntarenas Province. Steep, forested hills rise immediately behind the town, while the bay provides sheltered waters for boats and fishing activity.
Puerto Varas
Puerto Varas is a lakeside city in Chile’s Los Lagos Region, set on the southern shore of Lake Llanquihue with views toward the volcanoes Osorno, Calbuco, Puntiagudo, and Tronador. The waterfront, with its promenade and gardens, forms the center of the city’s relationship with the lake, while wooded hills and agricultural land extend beyond the urban area.
Heraklion
The capital of Crete, Heraklion is a Greek port city and a popular stop on Mediterranean and Greek cruises. The city is an historical marvel, replete with archaeological wonders and remnants of the region's past. Highlights include the Heraklion Archaeological Museum, the Rocca a Mare Fortress, the Venetian Loggia, and just past the city limits, the Palace of Knossos.
