As the capital of the Ben Tre Province, the city of Ben Tre is located in southern Vietnam on the Mekong Delta. Connected to other provinces by a network of bridges, the town draws less tourist traffic than nearby My Tho and Tra Vinh. River tours are a popular choice here, as are visits to the well-known temples and pagodas in the area. Whatever you choose, be sure to make time for a stop at one of the coconut candy factories in town. The handmade keo dua (coconut candy) is a local specialty that has led to some calling this area the "Land of Coconut."
