Coimbra, set along the banks of the Mondego River in central Portugal, is a historic city known for its academic legacy and old-world charm. Once the medieval capital of Portugal, it is home to the University of Coimbra, one of the oldest in Europe and a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Santa Ana is the county seat of Orange County and one of the largest cities in the region, located inland from the Pacific coast in Southern California. Its identity is closely tied to a historic downtown, long-established residential neighborhoods, and a strong Mexican American cultural presence. Fourth Street and Main Street form the traditional center of the city, while areas such as the East End and Floral Park add distinct architectural and neighborhood character.
Tikal is one of the most extraordinary ancient cities in Guatemala, hidden deep in the Petén region’s tropical forests. Once called Yax Mutal by its Maya builders, these ruins reveal thousands of years of history in carved stone stelae and towering limestone structures, some of which rise more than 60 meters above the jungle floor. Today, visitors can walk among the Great Plaza and gaze up at the Temple of the Great Jaguar and the Temple of the Masks, reminders of the city’s long legacy.
Abilene is no-nonsense and traditional, but it's just as capable of having a good time as any rip-roaring cowpoke. When you're in Abilene, take time to see the Abilene Zoo, particularly the Texas Plains exhibit, a unique collection of species native to that part of the country (if you've never seen a javelina, here's your chance).
Bar Harbor should be any traveler's Maine priority! Drink in a view of the Atlantic Ocean from the town pier, and be sure to get some lobster at one of the excellent local restaurants. Bar Harbor, a Mount Desert Island town, is also the portal to the rugged, recreational paradise Acadia National Park, where birding, whale-watching and kayaking is the order of the day. The park's Cadillac Mountain is the highest point on America's East Coast.

Ogunquit is a beautiful place by the sea. Offering quaint New England flavor of the Village Center, Ogunquit is a bustling holiday haven to visitors from all over the world. Ogunquit today remains a tranquil, small village that continues to offer almost everything to almost everyone as perhaps nowhere else in the country can.
Its countless variety of fine shops, excellent restaurants and lodgings, art galleries and museums, the Playhouse and summer repertory theatres, nearby golf courses and country clubs, fishing, lobstering and sight-seeing cruises, and spectacular views all year round would be difficult to encounter anywhere else. For the past 100 years, this charming seaside village has evolved from a small fishing hamlet with dirt roads and shacks, to a major vacation resort without losing its charm or magnetism. This little "gem" on the rocky coast of Maine should not be missed.
