Vienna has a long memory. Once the capital of the Habsburg Empire, the city still carries signs of its imperial past in its palaces, concert halls, and wide boulevards. Visitors can walk through the Hofburg complex, where emperors once ruled, or tour the opulent rooms of Schönbrunn Palace, which features 1,441 rooms and a maze in its gardens. Adara is a small, remote village on Atauro Island in Timor-Leste, known for its quiet charm and deep connection to the sea. Nestled between steep mountain slopes and the turquoise waters of the Wetar Strait, the community lives largely from fishing and small-scale agriculture.

Killington, Vermont is best known for its ski resort, the largest in the eastern United States, but the town offers more than just winter slopes. Nicknamed “The Beast of the East,” Killington Resort spans six mountain peaks and includes over 1,500 acres of terrain. It was one of the first ski areas in the country to adopt snowmaking technology in the 1960s, and it continues to operate one of the longest ski seasons in North America, sometimes stretching from October into May.
